Weight Loss Surgery

Surgery is the most effective treatment for obesity. It achieves average total weight loss of around 30%. For example, if your weight now is 18 stones, we expect it to be around 13 stone after bariatric surgery.

Weight loss (bariatric) surgery is done as a key hole (laparoscopic) procedure. This  means that in addition to achieving excellent weight loss, the recovery is quick (most patients stay in the hospital 1 or 2 nights only), the pain is minimal and the risk of post surgical hernias is reduced.

Weight loss surgery has a low risk of complications. Weight loss surgery is safer than many other operations that are performed routinely.

Weight loss surgery requires good preparation before surgery and lifelong commitment to dietary changes, taking vitamins daily, having regular blood tests and attending follow up appointments.

All Mr Toumi’s bariatric patients get seen by a bariatric dietitian before and after the surgery. Most Mr Toumi’s patients get seen by a bariatric psychologist before surgery.

The procedures that Mr Toumi offers are:

Sleeve gastrectomy (gastric sleeve)

Gastric bypass

Gastric balloon
